Des Moines, Iowa - July 1, 2, 3, 2005

Opening Day!  Friday, July 1, 2005 The day began for some rodders well before sunrise .... we're talkin' FIVE hours before sunrise. Rumor has it that the first car in line qued up well before 2 am.  This reporter is not THAT crazy ... got to the fairgrounds by 4 am.  It was a cool morning, in the high 60's, and the sunrise was spectacular. The ever-efficient GoodGuys staff (yes, we're talking about you Sparkey!) opened the gates at 6 am and the parade into the fairgounds began. The weather was absolutely perfect with blue skies, a light breeze and temperatures in the 80's. If you've never been to a GoodGuys event at the Des Moines fairgounds, you don't know what you're missing.   It's a great venue and the locals are very hospitable!
